Wedding and Event DJ in Chicago
Frequently Asked Questions
The big questions:
Do you travel outside of Chicago?
I’ll go anywhere! Please see below for where I love to go. Please note that for drives longer than [1 hour], I do add a surcharge to cover time and gas.
What are your wedding DJ rates?
I offer packages that start at $3000, with options for add-ons such as photo booth and extra uplights. Check out my packages here.
Are you an LGBTQIA friendly DJ?
Extremely! I’m an enthusiastic ally.
How far in advance should I book a DJ?
If you’re planning your wedding or event during peak season (May through November), I would recommend reaching out for a consultation at least a year in advance.
How much wedding experience do you actually have?
15 years! I’ve done everything from playing trumpet, running sound & lights, MC, DJ and event production.
We have a specific vision for our wedding party. Will you understand our taste?
That’s what the consultation is for! Communication is key and I take the time to chat with you 1-on-1 so I can learn what you like and map out your vision of the perfect party!
Can you handle DJing weddings with 500+ people?
Absolutely! I can help you elevate your party to a one of a kind event.
How would you describe your musical taste?
I like music that is fun, energetic, and has a beat you can dance to! I like to think of it as fluid: like water, it changes shape to fit the space it’s given. I love so many different kinds of music and artists, but what’s more important is YOUR tastes and what you want to hear while you're on the dancefloor.
How often will you communicate and/or meet with us? Are you available by phone? Can we text you?
As often as you like! I’m typically available from 10-6pm Mon-Thurs to answer calls and set up consultations. You can text, call or email! Two weeks before your event we’ll set up a final scheduling call to discuss all the details and make sure everything is perfect!
Our parents/family have tons of opinions. It’s chaotic. Can you handle this?
Of course! A good DJ can navigate the eclectic tastes of your guests and manicure a bespoke set that keeps the dancefloor packed all night.
How long does your planning process take to DJ an event?
It depends on how many moving parts you have. Most event/wedding planning begins a year in advance. If you have most of the big details worked out i.e. venue, date, guest count, etc. then we can discuss your needs, music preference, and desired services. This would take about a month, with a final scheduling call 2 weeks before the event date to solidify all the details and finalize the timeline.
What’s your backup plan if you’re unable to play at our wedding?
Emergencies can happen(Although rarely) and in these cases it’s best to be prepared. In case of an unlikely event that would prevent me from performing, I would rely on my network of talented DJ’s and contact someone I trust to come to the rescue!
We don’t have a wedding planner. Can you act as our day-of coordinator?
Yes! I’ve done this countless times as an event producer so it’s second nature. You need to have someone who can confidently coordinate the “run-of-show” in order to guarantee that everything stays on track.
How good are you at pronouncing names?
Why leave it up to chance? In our planning calls I’ll take the time to review all the details of your event, including the preferred pronunciations of your family and friends names.
What size weddings do you typically perform?
Typically most weddings are between 100-300 people. I’ve played smaller/intimate weddings with guest lists as small as 75.
I have a DJ emergency. Are you available for my last-minute gig?
Maybe! Shoot me a message and I’ll get back to you ASAP.
